Basics of Guitaring

Basics of Guitaring
Has the guitar ever fascinated you? If you dream of playing
it, your first step should be to learn the basics of
guitaring. The guitar is used in a range of musical styles.
A guitar normally has six strings, but there are those
that have two, four, eight, or even twelve strings.

In forms of pop-like blues, flamenco, country, and rock
music, one can play the guitar acoustically. Here, the tone
is produced when you vibrate the strings with the help of
the plectrum or with your fingers. The vibration of the
strings is modulated by the hollow body. For better sound
quality, you can also go for an amplifier that will
manipulate the tone electronically.

Luthiers are those who repair as well as make guitars.
Various kinds of wood are used for the making of a guitar.

You need to tune the guitar before you start trying to play
it. There are a number of ways to do this. You could have
a guitar tuner, such as a pitch pipe, harmonica, or a
tuning fork. Simply play the tuner and try to match it
with the note of the guitar strings. Start tuning at the
sixth string of the guitar. This is the thickest string
among all the strings, and the note played open here is an
E note.

Continue tuning with the five other strings in the same
manner. Once you do all of this, you have a tuned guitar
that invites you to hold it in style and play well. This
process of tuning is actually the standard tuning that
(EADGBE) you will find the majority of the guitarists use.

The most versatile instrument in modern music, the guitar
is a great item that all of you who have a passion for
music should learn. If playing the guitar seems difficult,
then the reason may be that you are not practicing enough.
The truth is, it becomes easy to play if you give it the
time and dedication it requires.

When learning to play this fabulous instrument, it is
advisable that you start with an acoustic guitar. You also
develop good guitar habits when you play the acoustic
guitar. The strings of this guitar have more tension and
are bigger, enabling your fingers to gather more strength
and develop calluses.

Remember, the six strings, EADGBE, by remembering the
phrase, "Eat All Day Get Big Easy." Once you can play the
acoustic guitar well, you can shift onto playing the
electronic guitar.

Also try learning to play some chords. This is an
essential part of the basics of guitaring. Start playing
the C, D, G, E and A chords first. When you can play these
chords really well, try playing the barre chords. Playing a
barre chord requires a bit of expertise. It is played by
laying your index finger across all the six strings and
making up the rest of the chord with your remaining three
fingers.

There are other basics of guitaring that you need to
acquire if you want to master playing the guitar. Nothing
comes easy, so if you dream to play the guitar well, you
need to practice. There is no alternative.

Without doubt, for summer 2008, femininity rules as the
winning armour for monen. This season women has to go wild
with shapes and silluetes. To make the summer season
exuberent; an introduction of colour, with soft, sugar
coated shades and a burst of vitamin tones. Irresistable
desire for prints with masses of bucolic motifs, and
remember, the larger the better. The excitement of
spring fashion is in the air. This season designers are
filled with romantic nostalgia and passion about women's
clothing. To get one step ahead of style be prepared: your
shopping list will be long but every purchase will be worth
it.

The focal point of the new season's fashion is the
silhouette, freely molded and shaped with layers of fabric,
asymmetrical cuts, pleats, gathers in crossover mood
between yesterday and today.

A flurry of colors, embroidery and lace invade the wardrobe
of woman. Begin with wearing delightful lingerie
petticoats trimmed with leather belts on the hips and tinny
dresses with masses of pointy frills. With a touch of
romance, knitted mini dresses that flaunt sprays of roses
and with gym-chic pullovers and tracksuit pants in deluxe
versions. Short lengths prevail with mini hems and lots of
shorts styles that vanish for evenings that are enhanced
with long caftans covered with sparkly sequins.

Dresses are the stars of Spring-Summer of 2008. Look for
smooth, slippery fabrics with transparent and translucent
textures glide along to highlight the revival of the
tracksuit. Prints as always are dictating their rules.
Fabrics that are rich filled with vertical and horisontal
stripes that play with a desire for graphic lines takes the
lead. Geometric macro patterns and huge flowers will be
popular this season bringing a couture femininity to
woman's evivening look.

This season's highlights:

BIG PRINTS. Look for colors and contrast. Red, Yellow,
Green, Black, White, and Pink will do. Prints that are
blown out of proportion, yet elegant and chic. Feel free
to layer it with a strong cotton jacket or a pair of
leggings.

RUFFLES and RUCHES will bring a playful and innocent look
to any women. Long or short dresses, with Empire waistline
and embellished with pinups, big flowers. Use them for any
social occasion you might have: cocktail party, or dream
prom party. Frivolous crochet, romantic prints,
stylistic plants and charming embroidery is on the list for
this summer as well. The SIGNATURE DRESS of this season
is the ONESHOULDER dress. The asymmetrical cut accentuates
femininity and brings a touch of seduction.

One Hour - Every Day - At Four O'Clock

One Hour - Every Day - At Four O'Clock
Every day at four o'clock, I stop whatever it is I am doing
to watch my favorite soap opera. I take the phone off the
hook, lock the door, sit with a cup of freshly brewed
coffee, and escape. It has become an addiction. One that I
like having.

Almost every time I do this, I am astounded at how much
better the lives of these people are than mine. There are
some basic facts, Ladies and Gentlemen, that apply only to
soap opera people, the women in particular.

The women in soap operas are always extraordinarily
beautiful. The women in soap operas do not walk across a
room, they glide. The women in soap operas are never
without a man for more than three hours at a stretch. That
is, if their story book relationship is about to break up,
you can always be assured that there is another Adonis
waiting just around the scene. The women in soap operas
never do laundry, clean toilet bowls, or vacuum. The women
is soap operas never have a single hair out of place or a
nail chipped. I remember one scene in particular that
exemplified this because it paralleled the same situation
in my life. I was at the airport saying goodbye to my
friend. A young lady on the soap opera was at the airport
saying goodbye to her lover.

I will never forget how she looked. One perfectly shaped
tear glistened down her luminously made up face. The wind
blew through her shining blonde hair. (I wondered at the
time, where the wind came from in the middle of the
airport). A Beethoven symphony was playing in the
background, and dozens of beautiful, white, casablanca
lilies cascaded around her from out of the sky, (there must
have been a hole in the airport roof), as her lover took
her hand in his, and kissed it tenderly.

In my scenario, there was considerably more than one tear.
My face was not luminous, it was wet. It did not glisten,
it was too drenched in mascara and pancake make up to
glisten too much. The only music I recall was a strange
looking fellow's sony walkman blasting something less than
romantic in the background. I particularly remember this,
because it drowned out the sound of whatever my friend was
saying to me at the time. I have a strong suspicion it was
goodbye, but I will never really know for sure.

Human beings behave differently on soap operas. Have you
ever watched people go swimming on a soap opera? The women
arrive at the pool in gold, laminated dresses enveloping
their tiny bikinis, that match the gold flecks in their
eyes. The men, I am sure, arrive straight from their
previous employment with Playgirl magazine. If either party
actually does manage to get wet, you can be assured that as
they emerge out of the water, their hair suddenly parts
perfectly, down the middle of their forehead, miraculously,
similar to the parting of the red sea. The men's bodies
glisten with oils. Somehow, a little man with an oil can
must have been down there at the bottom of the pool. Many
times, I have waited beside my pool, (such as it is),
hoping some man, any man, would emerge, tanned and oiled
like that, all to no avail.

And have you ever noticed what it is like being sick on a
soap opera? It almost makes you want to run out and collect
as many germs as you can find, just so you can get admitted
to those wonderful places of recuperation. Terminal
patients never look terminal on a soap. They look lovely.
They lie in their perfectly made up Wamsutta down beds
while being attended to by physicians that look remarkably
like Robert Redford and Tom Cruise.

And most of them seem to have sudden and astounding
recoveries. Of course, with doctors like those, who could
blame them. Even the dead on soap operas look wonderful. If
I really must go someday, please God, let it be on a soap.
I would love the world to remember me that way.

Let's face it. The people on soaps do not attend to
everyday realities. I do not recall even one soap opera
person ever having to go the the john. I have given this
much thought, and have decided that they just don't have to
do that sort of thing. They go to the powder room, (it's
much more civilized), to check that nothing is amiss,
although God knows why, they couldn't possibly be improved
upon.

People in soap operas don't cook much either. Rarely, have
I seen anyone sweating over a hot stove. They hardly eat.
That must be why they all remain so svelte. When they do
feel the need to indulge, well, you can be assured it will
be at their favorite local dining establishment. Probably a
place called "The Escargot Room" where they are greeted by
a very distinguished frenchman named, Pierre, taken to
their private table, where of course, their usual red
roses, waterford crystal and candlelight awaits them. All
of these details go without saying. They are often the only
ones in the restaurant, so there is always plenty of room
on the immaculately marbled dance floor.

It is here, of course, where the man, handsomely dressed in
his tuxedo, whispers the most incredibly romantic things
into the woman's ear. Things such as, "Darling, you touch
my soul with your eyes." I ask you, my friends, when was
the last time your man said that to you?

Oh, and if it just happens to be a special occasion, such
as an engagement, then a trio of violinists or a mini
orchestra suddenly appears on the scene, and the lady is
presented with a diamond ring, I am sure, borrowed from
Elizabeth Taylor's collection, while sipping on her Dom
Perignon.

As of late, it has also occurred to me that people on soap
operas never seem to pay bills, floss their teeth, or
change their kid's diapers. And you know something, I
wouldn't have it any other way. If I wanted to watch that,
I wouldn't have to turn on the TV. You can keep your
reality. Give me Fantasy!

At least for one hour - every day - at four o'clock.

I Want A Hannah Montana Autograph!

I Want A Hannah Montana Autograph!
Hannah Montana's (Miley Cyrus) fame seems to continue to
grow. The Disney TV series is a favorite of both young and
old alike. Millions of people consider Hannah Montana to
be a wonderful role model for the young girls of today.

Hannah's fans are not any different from other celebrity
fans. Many of us have favorite celebrities that we would
like to feel a sense of connection with. Although we may
never know them or even meet them we want something that
provides us with a joining or association on a personal
level. We desire something that we have with that
celebrity that no one else has.

Autographs have been used to bridge the gap between fans
and celebrities. Autographs can fill the void and create a
feeling of connection. The problem is that most of us will
not have the opportunity to hand Hannah a piece of paper
and request the autograph.

For every problem there is a solution. Sending a letter to
Hannah Montana to request an autograph is a viable method
to achieve the desired outcome. Most requests are
fulfilled; however, it may take a little time for your
autograph to arrive. In order to assist you in preparing a
letter of request that will get a response we have provided
some guidelines. Below you will find the current address
for Hannah Montana's fan mail.

Hannah Montana
c/o It's a Laugh Productions, Inc.
2800 West Sunset Blvd.
Bldg. 11, Suite 201
Hollywood, CA 90028
USA

Anytime that you are sending fan mail you should do the
following:

1.Be polite and courteous
2.Keep your letter short and to the point
3.Mention something, or many things, that you admire about
Hannah
4.Ask for exactly what you want
5.Check your spelling and grammar
6.Include a stamped-self-addressed-envelope (SSAE)

Hannah Montana just like any celebrity is busy. Answering
fan mail is something that is done during the time she is
not working. Letters that are polite as well as brief are
more likely to be answered. A letter consisting of several
pages may not be read - or at least not in its entirety so
your request may be completely overlooked.

By mentioning what you specifically admire about Hannah she
will know that you are a sincere fan. And by asking for
exactly what you want you are more likely to get it. For
example, if you want the photo to be addressed to you be
sure to say that.

Including a SSAE makes the process of fulfilling your
request easier and therefore you are more likely to receive
a response. By the way, it is suggested that you send the
photo that you would like to have autographed rather than
requesting both, a photo and an autograph. You can put a
piece of cardboard in the envelope to help protect the
photo. It also helps to write "Do Not Bend" on the outside
of the envelope.

Be prepared to wait up to 3 or 4 months for your response.
Don't worry, it'll be worth it. Be you know it you will
have a personal autograph of Hannah Montana (Miley Cyrus)
to call your own. You will have a real connection with the
superstar!

The Profiles of Some Famous Guitarists

The Profiles of Some Famous Guitarists
Most of us are quite enchanted by the magic of guitar. The
mesmerizing tune and sweet tingling of the guitar strings
have enamored many a man who has later moved on to become
musical legends in their individual niche. There is a
roster of famous and successful guitarists who have
mastered this enigmatic art of music.

Amongst the many legendary stalwarts, Jimi Hendrix
undoubtedly tops the list of profiles of famous guitarists.
A genius in its truest sense, the legendary Hendrix was
born in 1942. An American by birth, the maestro was a
singer and lyricist, and is considered around the globe as
one of the most influential and enigmatic personas in the
ambit of rock music. One of the milestones in his career
was his 1967 performance at the Monterey Pop Festival which
raised him to instant fame in the United States and was
followed by many accolades.

Besides earning a huge name and fame for himself through
his forte as a great singer and musician, the legendary
maestro also improvised the art of rock music in his own
signature way, and he incorporated a number of innovations
and techniques into the older forms of rock and jazz music.
Quite recently, Hendrix was inducted into the USA's Rock
and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992, and into the UK Music Hall
of Fame in 2005.

The very meaning of rock music becomes insignificant
without the mention of B. B. King, the master craftsman in
the art of music. An ingenious guitarist and
singer-cum-song writer in the American Blues, B.B. King was
considered the Third Greatest Guitarist of All Time in the
2003 listing of Rolling Stone magazine.

The legendary musician started his journey in the world of
music in 1946, and worked in the local R&B radio channel as
a vocalist. However, soon after this he began recording
under big names and became a prominent figure among the
best musicians in the R&B music scene. Some of his greatest
all time hits during this period include, "Whole Lotta
Love," "Every Day I Have the Blues," "You Know I Love You,"
and "Please Accept My Love." Amidst his many achievements
as a successful singer and composer, is included his most
recent felicitation at the Three Deuces Building in
Greenwood, Mississippi, for his maiden in radio
broadcasting. Also, a grand memorial in the name of B. B.
King Museum and Delta Interpretive Center is all set to be
inaugurated on September 13, 2008, in Indianola,
Mississippi.

Robert Johnson is another of the famous names in the world
of guitar and its magic. Born on May 8, 1911, as Robert
Leroy Johnson, the veteran guitarist was one of the
brightest stars in the entire Delta Blues group. The period
between 1936 and 1937 saw him in great guns when he claimed
and proved his forte as a brilliant guitarist and lyricist,
as well as an awesome singer. Often regarded as the
"Grandfather of Rock-and-Roll," Robert Johnson is believed
to have been a great influence in the world of rock music,
inspiring many legends of the same genre, including Bob
Dylan, The Allman Brothers Band, Jimi Hendrix, Led
Zeppelin, The Black Keys, and many others. Eric Clapton,
another legend of the same kind, has called Johnson "the
most important blues musician who ever lived."
